Vikings Extend GM Rick Spielman Through 2020 Season

According to Ben Goessling, the Vikings have extended GM Rick Spielman through the 2020 season.  

The new deal puts him in line with HC Mike Zimmer, whose contract also runs through 2020.  

Spielman, 56, got his start in the NFL as the vice president of player personnel for the Dolphins in 2012.  He was promoted to general manager in 2004 before resigning a year and a half later. 

Spielman was hired by the Vikings as VP of player personnel in 2006.  He was promoted to general manager by the Vikings in 2012.
