Chris Tomasson, citing NFL sources, reports that the Vikings are interested in re-signing S Andrew Sendejo when free agency begins next week.
Tomasson mentions that he could become a starter in Minnesota if they are unable to re-sign free agent S Anthony Harris, who is expected to land a big-money deal in free agency.
Sendejo, 32, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in 2010. He lasted just over a year in Dallas before he was claimed off of waivers by the Jets.
The Vikings later signed Sendejo to a four-year, $16 million contract that included $2.5 million guaranteed. He was set to make a base salary of $5.45 million for the 2019 season when the Vikings declined to pick up his option this offseason.
Sendejo later signed a one-year deal with the Eagles, but was later released in order to protect a compensatory pick.
In 2019, Sendejo appeared in 15 games for the Eagles and Vikings and recorded 45 tackles, one sack, three interceptions and four pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 safety out of 86 qualifying players.
