ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Minnesota Vikings have re-signed RB Adrian Peterson to a seven-year deal worth $100 million and includes $36 million in guaranteed money.
Peterson’s contact beats out both Chris Johnson and DeAngelo Williams in total dollars and in number of seasons. In the first three years, Peterson could end up making $40 million which is a prettyย staggeringย amount of money to be allocated to the running back position.
The Vikings knew that they had to get a deal done with Peterson as he was set to hit free agency following the season. Minnesota would have used their franchise tag on him at that point but it could have been the start of issues with their star player. The good news for them is that none of this came to be and he’ll be in purple for what looks like the rest of his NFL career.
