The Washington Football Team has signed K Brett Maher to the practice squad, per Nicki Jhabvala.

Washington’s full practice squad now includes:

  2. DE Jordan Brailford
  3. WR Tony Brown
  4. CB Aaron Colvin
  5. G Joshua Garnett
  6. TE Hale Hentges
  7. QB Steven Montez
  8. LB Jared Norris
  9. DE Nate Orchard
  10. LB Donald Payne

  12. S Jeremy Reaves
  13. WR Cam Sims
  14. CB Cole Luke
  15. WR Shelton Gibson
  16. OL David Steinmetz
  17. K Brett Maher

Maher, 30, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent of Nebraska back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in New York before he waived and later signed by the Cowboys during the preseason.

Unfortunately, Dallas cut Maher loose just a few weeks later as they cut their roster down to the 75-man limit. Maher spent three years in the CFL before signing a one-year deal with the Browns in 2017. However, Cleveland elected to move on from Maher shortly after the draft that year.

Maher signed with the Cowboys during the 2018 offseason and won a competition to become the starting kicker. However, he was waived after a tough stretch of games.

Maher signed a futures deal with the Jets for 2020 but was released before the start of the season.

In 2019, Maher appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys and made 20-30 field goal attempts (66.7 percent) as well as all 36 of his extra point attempts.
