Mutual Interest Between Patriots & LeGarrette Blount Regarding New Contract

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that the Patriots and free agent RB LeGarrette Blount have shown mutual interest in a new contract.

Howe admits that Blount could still test the free agent market in the coming weeks, and adds that negotiations between the two sides are still in the “infant stages.”

With Blount not expected to secure a sizable contract on the open market, it seems like the Patriots could be his best option.

Blount, 29, finished out the final year of his two-year, $1.73 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent next month.

In 2015, Blount appeared in 12 games and rushed for 703 yards on 165 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with six receptions for 43 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
