Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the 49ers are bringing free agent DBÂ Jaylen Watkins for a visit on Wednesday. According to Garafolo, this is the first of a few visits Watkins has lined up.
This is the first reported interest in Watkins since the free agent market officially opened.
Watkins, 26, is a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2014. He was waived at the start of the 2015 season and had a brief stint on the Bills’ practice squad before returning to the Eagles toward the end of the 2015 season.
Last year, the Eagles signed Watkins to a one-year exclusive rights deal. However, Philadelphia declined to tender him a restricted offer this offseason, which is he’s testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.
In 2017, Watkins appeared in 12 games for the Eagles and recorded 17 tackles and no interceptions.
