AFC West Notes: Broncos, Chargers, Raiders

Broncos

Broncos QB Paxton Lynch struggled during Saturday’s preseason game, completing 6-of-11 pass attempts for 24 yards and an interception.

After the game, Broncos HC Vance Joseph opened the door for Chad Kelly to see time as the team’s No. 2 quarterback behind Case Keenum.

“We’ll see,” Joseph said, via DenverBroncos.com. “We’ll watch the tape and see where we are. Obviously Case is the starter, so that’s my main concern.”

  • Nicki Jhabvala thinks it’s pretty clear the Broncos have to bring in a veteran to be Keenum’s backup, either by trade or a free agent addition.

Chargers

Chargers HC Anthony Lynn mentioned that they’re still in talks with free agent TE Antonio Gates, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll bring him back.

We’ve talked to Antonio and we’re still talking with him,” Lynn said, per Eric Williams. “I don’t know where that’s going to go. We need to make more plays at the tight end position. We dropped some balls today that should have been caught. I expected that to get better.

Raiders

Raiders CB Gareon Conley says he’s “feeling good” and plan to be back at practice next week.

I’m feeling good,” Conley said, via the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I’m ready to be back. It’s been a long time since I’ve played. I’m anxious to do it.”
