Broncos Reach Agreement With Vance Joseph On Four-Year Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Broncos have officially reached an agreement with DC Vance Joseph to be their next head coach.

• According to Schefter, Joseph received a four-year contract from the Broncos.

The Denver Broncos are closing in on a deal to make Dolphins DC Vance Joseph their next head coach, according to Josina Anderson.

• Anderson adds that the two sides are still working on numbers for Joseph’s contract.
• Ian Rapoport confirms that the Broncos are expected to name Joseph their head coach by the end of the day. According to Rapoport, Joseph had dinner with the Broncos last night and returned today to finalize a deal.

All indications are that this deal will get done and Joseph will take over as the Broncos’ next head.

Joseph had an interview lined up with the Chargers for today but the Broncos prevented that meeting from happening by bringing him back to the team’s facility this morning.

Since the Broncos began searching for a head coach to replace Gary Kubiak, it was clear that Joseph was the guy to watch, even though Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan and Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub both interviewed for the job.

Joseph, 44, began his NFL coaching career with the 49ers as an assistant secondary coach back in 2005. He spent six year with the 49ers before joining the Texans in 2011.

After two years with the Bengals as their defensive backs coach, Joseph was hired to run the Dolphins’ defense last year.

In 2016, the Dolphins ranked No. 29 in total yards allowed, No. 18 in points allowed, No. 30 in rushing yards allowed and No. 15 in passing yards allowed.
