Broncos DE Billy Winn Done For Season With Torn ACL

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that Broncos DE Billy Winn is out for the season with a torn ACL that he sustained during Thursday’s preseason opener.

Winn was carted off during last night’s game with what was believed to be a serious right knee injury, so this isn’t a big surprise.

The Broncos will likely place Winn on injured reserve and add someone to their roster in the coming days.

Winn, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Browns back in 2012. He spent over three years in Cleveland before he was traded to the Colts in return for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2017.

The Broncos signed him to a one-year contract in July of last year. Winn returned to Denver on a one-year, $775,000 deal this past May.

In 2016, Winn appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and recorded 19 tackles, no sacks and a fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 97 interior defender out of 127 qualifying players.
