Browns Assistant HC Pep Hamilton Considering Leaving To Join Jim Harbaugh At Michigan

Ian Rapoport reports that Browns assistant head coach/offense Pep Hamilton is considering leaving the team to join Jim Harbaugh at Michigan.

According to Rapoport, the Browns aren’t firing Hamilton as part of their shakeup and would instead prefer him to staff on board. However, Rapoport says that Hamilton likes coaching the college game.

It’s not all that common to see a coach leave his current post with an NFL team to return to the college game, but it appears as though this is a strong possibility.

Hamilton previously worked with Harbaugh while at Stanford before taking over as the Colts’ offensive coordinator in 2013. Indianapolis elected to fire him during the season last year but he was later hired by Hue Jackson after he accepted the Browns’ job.

In 2016, the Browns offense ranked No. 30 in total yards, No. 28 in passing yards, No. 19 in rushing yards and No. 31 in points scored.

We’ll have more regarding Hamilton and the Browns as the news is available.
