Browns CB E.J. Gaines Expected To Miss Three Weeks With Knee Sprain

Update:

Adam Schefter reports that an MRI on Browns CB E.J. Gaines shows that he suffered a sprain that is expected to sideline him for three weeks.
This is great news for Gaines, as the injury appeared to be more serious at the time.

According to several Browns’ reporters, CB E.J. Gaines was carted off during Sunday’s practice with a right knee injury.

Mary Kay Cabot says that Gaines went down grabbing his right knee and had his hands on head in pain.

Gaines, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Rams back in 2014. The Rams traded him to the Bills last August as part of the Sammy Watkins deal.

Gaines played out the final year of his four-year, $2,327,672 contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season before signing with the Browns this past March. He’ll make $4 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Gaines appeared in 11 games for the Bills and recorded 59 tackles, one interception, three forced fumbles and nine pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Gaines’ injury as the news is available.
