Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that free agent CB Jason McCourty had dinner with the Browns coaching staff and brass last night.
Rapoport adds that McCourty is visiting the Browns’ facility Tuesday and will take a physical for the team.
McCourty, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Titans back in 2009. He has spent all eight years of his career with Tennessee and was in the final year of his six-year, $44.26 million contract that included $17 million guaranteed and would have made a base salary of $7 million for the 2017 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing McCourty will free up $7 million of available cap space while creating no dead money.
In 2016, McCourty appeared in 14 games for the Titans and recorded 69 tackle, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and 12 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 55 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
