Browns Promote CB Darius Hillary To Active Roster, Cut DL Gabe Wright

The Cleveland Browns announced Friday that they’ve promoted CB Darius Hillary to their active roster and waived DL Gabe Wright.

Hillary, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin back in May. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but later signed on to their practice squad.

Cincinnati elected to cut him loose a few weeks ago but he just recently signed on to the Browns’ practice squad.

Hillary has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Wright, 24, is a former fourth-round pick of the Lions back in 2015. He was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason but later signed to the Browns’ practice squad last week.

Since the season started, Wright has been on and off of the Browns’ active roster.

In 2016, Wright appeared in three games for the Browns and recorded three tackles and a pass defense.
