Browns Waive G Jonathan Cooper

The Cleveland Browns announced Tuesday that they’ve placed G Jonathan Cooper on waivers and added G Alvin Bailey to their active roster.

Cooper, 26, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2013. He was in the final year of his four-year, $14,549,000 rookie contract that included $14,549,000 guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season when he was waived earlier in the day.

The Cardinals traded him to the Patriots as part of the Chandler Jones┬átrade. Although, New England declined to pick up Cooper’s fifth-year option back in May and later cut him loose a few months ago.

The Browns later claimed him off of waivers from New England.

In 2016, Cooper appeared in six games for the Browns and Patriots.
