Browns RB Trent Richardson To Use a Flak Jacket In Sunday’s Game

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Browns RB Trent Richardson was limited in today’s practice. She adds that Richardson was using a flak jacket to protect the damaged cartilage in his ribs.

Richardson is going to play against the Colts, but the Browns appear to be going easy on him. Chris Ogbonnaya and Montario Hardesty figure to see some extra playing time this weekend, but this is a perfect match up for Richardson, who has found little running room throughout most of the season averaging only 56.7 yards per game.

Browns head coach Pat Shurmur mentioned Trent Richardson could see a limited workload against the Colts if his injured ribs start to become a factor, per Scott Petrak.

Richardson suffered a rib cartilage injury last weekend, so it makes sense that they would be caution with their first-round pick. Chris Ogbonnaya and Montario Hardesty may end up seeing some additional carries against the Colts.

According to Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson expects to play in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Richardson’s status was up in the air after hurting his ribs on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. “In my mind I’m ready for Sunday,” said Richardson. “I’ll be ready to play the whole game.”

Richardson is expected to wear flak or some padding to protect his ribs against Indianapolis. It sounds like he will see the field, which is great news for Cleveland.
