Cardinals Could Be A Team To Watch For WR Pierre Garcon This Offseason

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic mentioned Wednesday that he wouldn’t be surprised to see the Cardinals show “some interest” in Redskins free agent WR Pierre Garcon this offseason.

The Cardinals could use a solid receiver like Garcon to go along with Larry Fitzgerald. Last year, Arizona elected to move on from Michael Floyd and John Brown has unfortunately dealt with sickle-cell issues, so bringing a productive receiver could help get their offense back on track for the 2017 season.

Garcon is in line to be one of the best receivers in this year’s free agent class and recently indicated that he’ll be testing the free agent market in the coming weeks by posting “#YallHiring?” on Instagram Monday.

Mike Jones of the Washington Post previously mentioned that the Redskins would like to retain Garcon, but as many as five teams are expected to have interest in Garcon this offseason including the Rams, Eagles, Bears, Cowboys and 49ers.

Garcon, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Redskins back in 2008. He spent four years in Indianapolis before signing a  five-year, $42.5 million contract that included $20.5 million guaranteed with the Redskins back in 2012.

Garcon is now in position to test the open market as an unrestricted free agent and will be among the best available receivers.

In 2016, Garcon appeared in all 16 games for the Redskins and caught 79 passes for 1,041 yards and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 8 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
