Chargers Bring Back Ken Whisenhunt As Offensive Coordinator

Michael Gehlken of the Union-Tribune San Diego reports that the Chargers have brought back Ken Whisenhunt to be their offensive coordinator.

This comes just over a week after the Chargers fired OC Frank Reich.

As soon as the job became available, Whisenhunt’s name came up as the guy to watch, given that he was with them for the 2013 season, and some success running their offense.

This led to the Titans hiring Whisenhunt and giving him a five-year contract to be their head coach. However, even after they used the No. 2 overall pick on Marcus Mariota, Tennessee elected to part ways with Whisenhunt half-way through his second season with the team.

In 2015, the Chargers ranked No. 31 in rushing and No. 26 in points-per-game, so those are two areas with a lot of room to improve.
