Chargers Sign CB Jeff Richards, Place LB Kyzir White On IR

The Los Angeles Chargers announced that they have signed CB Jeff Richards to their active roster and placed LB Kyzir White on injured reserve.

Richards, 27, originally signed on with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Emporia State back in May of last year. He was among Carolina’s final roster cuts coming out of the 2017 preseason and was claimed off waivers by the Chargers.

He was cut, once again, coming out of this year’s preseason and signed with the Buccaneers’ practice squad. After a short stint in Tampa Bay, he returned to the Chargers’ taxi squad earlier this month.

He has yet to appear in an NFL game.

White, 22, is a fourth-round pick by the Chargers out of West Virginia in the 2018 NFL Draft. He is in the first year of a four-year, $3,114,440 rookie contract and set to earn a base salary of $480,000 this season.

He was already ruled out of the Chargers’ Week 9 game with a knee injury and hasn’t played since Week 3.

In 2018, White has appeared in three games for the Chargers and recorded 17 total tackles, two pass defenses, and one interception.
