Chiefs Re-Sign Veteran RB C.J. Spiller

Terez A. Paylor reports that the Chiefs have re-signed veteran RB C.J. Spiller to a contract on Tuesday.

Spiller, 30, is a former first-round pick of the Bills back in in 2010. He spent five years in Buffalo before signing a four-year, $16 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed with the Saints in 2015.

Spiller was set to make a base salary of $1.7 million for the 2016 season when the Saints cut him loose a few weeks into the regular. The Seahawks signed him to a contract a few weeks later but he lasted just a month in Seattle.

The Jets gave Spiller another shot in November of last year, but they too cut him loose after a month.

The Chiefs signed Spiller to a contract this offseason but elected to release him as they trimmed down to the 53-man limit. He has been on and off of their roster this season.

In 2017, Spiller has appeared in one game and rushed for two yards on one carry.

Two years on one carry? That’s impressive
