Colts Agree To Terms With Undrafted CB Loucheiz Purifoy

The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that they have agreed to terms with undrafted Florida CB Loucheiz Purifoy.

Purifoy declared for the draft following his junior season with the Gators, starting 19 games and appearing in 37 games throughout his college career. Purifoy accumulated 102 tackles (69 solo), 12 passes defensed, five forced fumbles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, two sacks and one fumble recovery while at Florida.

In fact, Purifoy had the potential to be one of the top corners selected in the NFL Draft if it weren’t for a recent run-in with the police. According to the Gainesville Sun, Purifoy was caught with marijuana and a synthetic drug known as “bath salts” sometime in March. Purifoy avoided arrest after allegedly agreeing to work as a police informant.

Purifoy’s efforts in 2013 landed him as a Second Team All-SEC cornerback. Prior to the 2013 season, ESPN Draft analyst Mel Kiper placed Purifoy as his No. 10 overall prospect, while Todd McShay said that Purifoy could become a superstar at the NFL level.

The Colts have shown a willingness to bring in guys with character concerns such as Da’Rick Rogers who also offer some upside, so it will be really interesting to see if they end up getting a steal with Purifoy.
