According to Todd Archer of ESPN, the Cowboys have activated DE David Irving after he finished serving his four-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy.
Irving’s PED suspension stems from him taking a supplement that he had a marketing deal with. He was appleaed the case, but his suspension was upheld.
Irving, 23, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa State back in 2015. He was waived at the start of the regular season and later added to the Chiefs’ practice squad.
The Cowboys signed him to their active roster just a few weeks into the 2015 season and he’s been with them ever since. Dallas brought Irving back on a one-year, $615,000 exclusive rights contract last month.
In 2016, Irving appeared in 15 games recorded 17 tackles, four sacks, a fumble recovery, four forced fumbles and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 interior defender out of 127 qualifying players.
