Cowboys Have “No Interest” In RB Fred Jackson

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Cowboys have “no interest” in signing recently released RB Fred Jackson to a contract.

Instead, Dallas is sticking by their plans to move forward with a running back committee comprised of Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar.

According to Moore, the Cowboys haven’t closed the door on adding a running back at some point. However, Moore believes it’s likely to be someone younger than Jackson.

It seems like any available running back gets linked to the Cowboys no matter how many times they say that the plan is to see what their current group of backs is capable of.

For what it’s worth, Jason La Canfora mentioned earlier in the day that teams like the Patriots and Steelers previously did work on Jackson and could be among the teams interested in signing him to a contract.

Jackson, 34, had spent the past eight years in Buffalo before the team released him in a move that cleared around $2.7 million in available cap space for the team.

In 2014, Jackson ran for 525 yards on 141 carries (3.7 YPC) to go along with 66 receptions for 501 yards receiving and three total touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Jackson and potential options as the news is available.
