Todd Archer reports that the Cowboys have placed WR Vince Mayle on waivers Thursday.
Archer mentions that the Cowboys needed the roster spot to add an offensive lineman with LT Tyron Smith out for Sunday’s game.
Mayle, 25, was taken in the fourth round of last year’s NFL Draft by the Browns. However, he was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and later signed to the Cowboys’ practice squad.
Dallas promoted Mayle to their active roster a few times last year but elected to cut him loose at the start of the 2016 season. Mayle was later signed to their practice squad.
In 2016, Mayle has been active for six games but hasn’t recorded a statistic.
