Dwight Freeney Signing Contract To Retire With Colts

According to Mike Wells of ESPN, veteran DE/OLB Dwight Freeney is expected to sign a one-day contract with the Colts to retire as a member of the team.

The Colts have already confirmed the news:

Freeney, 38, is a former first-round pick of the Colts back in 2002. After spending 11 years in Indianapolis, Freeney signed on with the Chargers as a free agent and spent two seasons in San Diego.

Freeney had brief stints with the Cardinals, Falcons, Seahawks and Lions over the past few years.

For his career, Freeney recorded 284 tackles, 125.5 sacks, 46 forced fumbles, four recoveries, 17 pass defenses, a safety and one defensive touchdown over the course of 16 seasons in the NFL. He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and made three first-team All-Pro units.
