Market For CB A.J. Bouye Expected To Include Texans, Titans, Jaguars, Colts, 49ers & Browns

Update:

Jason La Canfora continues to hear that the Jaguars are a potential landing spot for free agent CB A.J. Bouye

  • Jenna Laine has heard that the Buccaneers may have some interest in Bouye as well.
  • According to Aaron Wilson, a return to the Texans is still in play for Bouye, but he has offers of at least $12 million per year.
  • Wilson says that the Texans, Titans, Jaguars, Colts, 49ers, and Browns are expected to be “extremely competitive” for Bouye. Wilson adds that the Eagles have inquired about Bouye but are not expected to be a serious player for him.
  • NFL sources predict that there’s a “high chance” of Bouye remaining in the AFC South and signing with the Texans, Titans, Jaguars or Colts, according to Wilson.

Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com, citing a person familiar with the situation, reports that the Eagles are interested in Texans CB A.J. Bouye and the two parties have already been in contact with one another.

Bouye wasn’t franchised by the Texans and is now one of the best available players this year’s free agent market. Some estimates have Bouye securing over $12 million per year in a long-term contract, so it won’t be easy for the Eagles or any other team to get him under contract.

The Texans figure to be in the mix to retain Bouye as well.

Bouye, 25, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of UCF back in 2013. He returned to the Texans on a one-year, $1.671 million restricted contract this past March and is now in position to be one of the most sought after players in next year’s market.

In 2016, Bouye has appeared 15 games and recorded 63 tackles, one sack, an interception and 16 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 cornerback out of 115 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2017 Free Agents list.
