Eagles S Patrick Chung On The Chopping Block?

Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly writes that the Eagles are expected to show S Patrick Chung the door this offseason now that he lost his job to rookie Earl Wolff.

Chung, 26, signed a three-year contract worth $10 million that included $4.25 million guaranteed with the Eagles last year. Chung appeared in 12 games this season and totaled 59 tackles, one fumble recovery and three pass defenses.

Pro Football Focus graded him as the No. 71 safety out of 84 qualifying players. According to their rating, Chung was one of the worst coverage safeties in the league.

While the Eagles aren’t exactly hurting for cap space next year, it doesn’t make sense to keep a guy who is due $3.25 million when it’s likely that he will be a backup option. Cutting Chung would free up $3.25 million in cap space for Philadelphia, according to Overthecap.com.
