The Atlanta Falcons have arguably been the most active team in the first hour of free agency.
- ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Falcons have agreed to terms with former Dolphins NT Paul Soliai and former Chiefs G Jon Asamoah.
- Ian Rapoport reports that DE Tyson Jackson has also agreed to a deal with the Falcons.
Soliai, 30, was widely considered to be the best available nose tackle in this year’s free agent market. Last year, Soliai totaled 35 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble over the course of 15 games. He was rated as the No. 20 defensive tackle in the league by Pro Football Focus.
Jackson, 27, totaled 33 tackles and four sacks over the course 15 games last season. He was rated as the No. 14 defensive end in a 3-4 system, according to Pro Football Focus.
Asamoah, 25, was clearly one of the best interior lineman available in this year’s free agent class. He has connections to new Falcons executive Scott Pioli, so this move makes a lot of sense. Pro Football Focus rated Asamoah as the No. 20 guard in the league last season and decent pass-blocker.
