Falcons RB Michael Turner Arrested For DUI & Speeding This Morning

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Falcons RB Michael Turner was charged with DUI and speeding early this morning.

Turner’s arrest took place around 5 a.m., but was later released on $2,179 bond. He was driving an Audi R8 on Interstate 85 and was clocked at 97 mph, which was 32 mph over the speed limit.

The officer made contact with the driver who identified himself as 30-year-old Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons,” said Cpl. Edwin Ritter, via ESPN.com. “The officer could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and proceeded to conduct a DUI investigation.

The Falcons came away with a victor over the Broncos last night, but the win had little to do with Turner. He did contribute a short-yardage touchdown early on in the game, but in terms of overall production, Turner was disappointing. This arrest will not help his chances of remaining with the team beyond the 2012 season, as there has been a lot of talk from NFL evaluators that his ability is in serious decline.
