Ben Volin of the Boston Globe reports that the “general feeling” around the NFL is that CB Logan Ryan will price himself out of the Patriots market and possibly secure as much as $10 million per year.
Three separate sources who spoke to Volin all pointed to the Lions as a team watch for Ryan in the coming days, given that GM Bob Quinn is familiar with him from his time in New England and they have an obvious need at the position.
Logan is among the best available cornerbacks in this year’s free agent market and in a great position to land to an impressive contract from another team, so it wouldn’t come as a big surprise to see him move on for a large contract.
Logan, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Patriots back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,773,252 contract with the Patriots and is now in a position to test the open market as an undrafted free agent for the first time in his career.
In 2016, Ryan appeared in all 16 games and recorded 92 tackles, one sack, two interceptions, a forced fumble and 11 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 16 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
