Free Agent OLB Jason Worilds Retiring From The NFL

Former Steelers and current free agent OLB Jason Worilds announced his retirement from the NFL, via his agent, Jason Bernstein.

I appreciate all of the interest from the organizations that have reached out to us the past few days. With that being said, after much thought & consideration I have chosen to step away from football as I have opted to pursue other  interests. I am especially grateful of the opportunity to play before some of the greatest fans in football today. Despite any concern and speculation that may ensue, I appreciate those that are respectful of my decision.”

This is shocking news as he appeared to be in great position to secure a lucrative long-term contract in the coming days.

Jason La Canfora reports that the Titans were “extremely interested” in signing him. He also came up as a potential option for the Eagles.

Worilds, 26, played five years for the Steelers and recorded 129 tackles, 25.5 sacks, one interception, four forced fumbles and three recoveries.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense out of 46 qualifying players. We had Worilds listed as the No. 26 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
