Giants Re-Signing DT Kenrick Ellis

Jordan Raanan of NJ.com is reporting that the Giants are re-signing DT Kenrick Ellis to a contract on Tuesday.

Ellis, 27, is a former third round pick of the Jets back in 2011. He signed a one-year, $1.475 million contract that included $500,000 guaranteed with the Giants back in March.

However, he wound up being released after they claimed DT Louis Nix off of waivers from the Texans earlier in the week.

Since he was released, Ellis visited with the Panthers, but he did not receive a contract offer.

In 2014, he appeared in 14 games for the Jets and recorded 12 tackles and a sack. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing just 158 snaps last year, but he did grade out as a solid run-stopper.
