Jaguars DE Dante Fowler Facing 3 Misdemeanor Charges From July Incident

TMZ Sports is reporting that Jaguars DE Dante Fowler has been formally charged with three misdemeanors for a parking lot incident that occurred in July.

Court documents show that Fowler is facing first degree misdemeanor battery, criminal mischief, and petty theft charges.

If convicted on all counts, Fowler would face around a year in jail.

Fowler was in an argument at an apartment complex and police say that he got out of his car, hit a man, knocked off glasses, and then stepped on them. From there, Fowler took the victim’s grocery bag, with “recently purchased liquor,” and threw it in a lake.

Fowler, 22, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $23.5 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $2,570,476 and $3,638,214.

Jacksonville will have to decide whether to pick up his fifth-year option next year.

Unfortunately, Fowler suffered a season-ending ACL tear during his first training camp that cost him his rookie season.

In 2016, Fowler appeared in all 16 games and recorded 32 tackles, four sacks, and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 73 edge defender out of 106 qualifying players.
