Jaguars Saw Tim Tebow As A Possible Distraction

During an interview with Pro Football Talk on Friday, former Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey admitted that they did in fact explore the idea of trading for QB Tim Tebow last offseason.

Mularkey mentioned that he didn’t want to deal with the distractions that would have come from adding Tebow to their roster. Mularkey added that their plan all along was to allow QB Blaine Gabbert to retain his starting job,

“If Blaine would have failed early, it would have been the call to bring Tebow in, and that’s not something you want for your football team,” said Mularkey.

Tebow has mentioned numerous times that he will be attending the Jets offseason workouts and has no intention of switching positions. Previous reports indicated that the Jets will most likely part ways with Tebow following the trade, as there’s been no reported interest in trading for him up to this point.
