Jaguars Sign LB Paul Posluszny To A One-Year Extension

Update:

The Jaguars announced that they’ve signed veteran MLB Paul Posluszny to a contract extension on Thursday.

We are excited to get an extension done with Paul,” Jaguars GM David Caldwell said.  “Paul is a true pro in every sense of the word. He is a valuable asset on and off the field and has done a great job mentoring our younger players while also performing well on the field.

“He has worked extremely hard rehabbing after his injury last year and will be ready to go for our offseason conditioning program beginning next week.

“I can’t say enough about Paul and what he means to our team,” HC Gus Bradley said.  “He is highly respected by his teammates and our coaching staff. You don’t measure a guy like Paul with just his stats but the overall impact he has on our team.

“He has earned the respect of everybody in the building with his preparation, determination and drive to get better each and every day.

Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the Jaguars and veteran MLB Paul Posluszny have agreed to a one-year contract extensions.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Posluszny will earn $15 million over the next three years and as much as $18 million.

There’s talk that a contract extension could be coming for Posluszny that would add a year to his current deal while reducing his base salaries.

Posluszny, 30, has two years remaining on his six-year, $42 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed. He will make base salaries of $7.45 million for 2015 and 2016 under his previous agreement.

In 2014, Posluszny appeared in seven games and recorded 69 tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass defense for the Jaguars. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 inside linebacker out of 60 qualifying players.

However, Posluszny unfortunately suffered a torn pectoral muscle that led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve in October.
