The Jacksonville Jaguars officially waived RB I’Tavius Mathers with an injury designation on Thursday.
Should Mathers clear waivers, he would revert to their injured reserve list on Friday.
Mathers was taken to the hospital this week after he suffered a neck injury.
Mathers, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State back in May. He stands to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the agreement.
During his college career at Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee State, Mathers rushed for 2,618 yards on 421 carries (6.2 YPC) to go along with 84 receptions for 774 yards receiving and 27 total touchdowns over the course of 52 games.
