Jets Bringing In Veteran QB Josh McCown For Visit, Cowboys Still Interested

Update:

Ralph Vacchiano reports that there is “serious” interest between the Jets and veteran QB Josh McCown and that the two sides have begun discussing contract parameters.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Jets are hosting veteran QB Josh McCown for a visit on Friday and into Saturday.

According to Rapoport, the Cowboys are also interested in McCown. However, it seems likely that they wouldn’t add McCown until they’ve made a decision regarding Tony Romo.

Previous reports have said that the Jets had reached out to McCown along with former Bears QB Jay Cutler.

McCown, 37, is a former third-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2002. He’s played for several teams over the course of his career including the Lions, Raiders, Dolphins, Panthers, 49ers, Bears, Buccaneers and most recently for the Browns.

McCown was entering the final year of his three-year, $14 million contract when the Browns released him in a move that freed up $4,375,000 in available cap space while creating $666,668 in dead money.

In 2016, McCown threw for 1100 yards while completing 54.5 percent of his passes to go along with six touchdowns and six interceptions over the course of five games.
