Jets Hosted TE Mychal Rivera For Visit

The New York Jets announced that free agent TE Mychal Rivera‘s visit with the team on Monday concluded without an agreement.

Peter Schrager reports that free agent TE Mychal Rivera will be visiting with the Jets on Monday.

This is the first reported interest in Rivera since the free agent market officially opened last week.

Last year, there was some talk that Rivera was expected to be available for trade in the weeks leading up to last year’s NFL Draft, but he was never moved in deal.

Rivera, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Raiders back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.265 million rookie contract that included a base salary of $675,000 for the 2016 season and is now testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.

In 2016, In 2016, Rivera appeared in 13 games for the Raiders and caught 18 passes for 192 yards receiving and one touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 33 tight end out of 64 qualifying players.
