Jets Schedule Private Workout With Oregon QB Marcus Mariota

Dom Cosentino of NJ.com reports that the Jets have a private workout scheduled with Oregon QB Marcus Mariota on March 28.

  • Rich Cimini adds that new Jets HC Todd Bowles will be on hand for their private workout with Mariota.

Jets GM Mike Maccagnan flew to Oregon last week to take in Mariota’s Pro Day, so they are clearly doing as much work as their can on the Heisman trophy winner.

Of course, this is still part of the draft process and a number of teams will meet with and workout Mariota, even if they have no intention of selecting him in this year’s draft.

There has been a lot of talk that the Jets could be in a decent position to land Mariota, if he falls past the Titans at No. 2 overall. However, the possibility remains that a team could trade up ahead of New York in order to get the young quarterback.

As of now, the Jets joint the Buccaneers, Titans, and Chargers as teams that have scheduled a private workout with Mariota.

During his three years at Oregon, Mariota threw for 10,796 yards while completing 66.8 percent of his passes to go along with 105 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions.
