Jets Sticking With Mark Sanchez, For Now

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan told reporters on Monday that he still supports Mark Sanchez as the team’s starting quarterback.

“He’s definitely our guy,” said Ryan, per Rich Cimini. “I know this is killing him. He’s going to want to respond.

The fact that Sanchez and the Jets offense as a whole continue to struggle, has created plenty of mounting pressure for the team which will not get any better next weekend when they take on the undefeated Houston Texans.

Sanchez and Ryan are tied to one another’s success, so Rex benching him would not only be admitting failure on his part, but it would force the team to readjust their offensive attack for Tim Tebow.

Peter King mentioned during last night’s Sunday Night Football broadcast that he believes that the Jets will not only bench Sanchez in the coming weeks, but they will also consider starting Greg McElroy.

While that may be pure speculation on the part of King, there’s no guarantee that Tebow will be able to step in and do what he did for the Broncos last year. You can be sure that this story will not die out in the coming weeks, even if Sanchez is somehow able to beat the Texans.
