Kevin Kolb Back In The Lead For The Cardinals Starting Job?

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic writes Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb has outplayed John Skelton by during the team’s practices to this point.

Somers adds that Skelton tends to look better in games, which is obviously a plus for him winning the job, especially when you consider that Kolb has looked awful so far.

Ken Whisenhunt is basically going with the best of the worst in this scenario, but there is still a chance that they could acquire a better option in the near future. The real problem with this situation is that it’s not like baseball where you trade for someone and plug him into your starting lineup. Whoever they would acquire or sign would have to have previous knowledge of the team’s offense to do so, and even then it may require a few weeks to get up to speed. This could be a miserable season for the Cardinals, unless Kolb or Skelton are able to step up when it counts.
