Lions Tried Out Six Defensive Backs

According to Howard Balzer, the Detroit Lions brought in five defensive backs for workouts on Monday.

The full list of tryouts includes:

  1. S Andrew Adams
  2. S Don Carey
  3. S David Jones
  4. S Sharrod Neasman
  5. CB Shareece Wright

Adams, 25, signed a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Connecticut back in 2016. He was on and off of the Giants’ during practice squad during his rookie season, but managed to make the active roster last year.

Unfortunately, the Giants elected to waive Adams last weekend.

In 2017, Adams appeared in all 16 games for the Giants and recorded 34 tackles, no interceptions, a forced fumble and two pass defenses.

Carey, 31, is a former sixth-round pick of the Browns back in 2009. He signed a four-year rookie contract but was waived during the preseason and was quickly claimed by the Jaguars. He lasted one month in Jacksonville before signing with the Lions.

Carey was in the final year of his four-year, $2.98 million contract with Detroit when the Lions re-signed him to a one-year extension for the 2017 season. The Jaguars elected to bring him back this past March before releasing him with an injury settlement coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Carey appeared in 13 games for the Lions and recorded nine tackles, a forced fumble and no interceptions or pass defenses.
