NFL Notes: 49ers, Eagles, Panthers, Raiders, Titans

49ers

49ers GM John Lynch said regarding the possibility of re-signing QB Colin Kaepernick now that they’ve added two new quarterbacks to their roster last week:

“I think the likelihood of that happening has probably gone down significantly, but we’re not going to close our mind or options on anyone,” Lynch said, per Matt Barrows.

Eagles

  • Ian Rapoport reports that the Eagles are hosting notable draft prospects Dalvin Cook and Leonard Fournette for pre-draft visits on Friday.
  • According to Rapoport, the Eagles are also meeting with Clemson WR Mike Williams today.

Panthers

  • Bill Voth of the Black & Blue Review reports that Panthers P Andy Lee recently agreed to a pay cut.
  • According to Voth, the Panthers restructured the final two years of Lee’s contract, which resulted in Lee parting with $2 million over the final two years of the agreement. The move also freed up $808,000 of cap space in 2017 and another $1.93 million in 2018.

Raiders

  • Josina Anderson writes that recently acquired Raiders TE Jared Cook‘s two-year deal is essentially a one-year contract since his second-year salary is guaranteed for injury only.
  • According to Adam Caplan, the Vikings made a “hard run” at Cook and made a “very competitive” offer to him. Caplan notes that the Vikings and Raiders were among 5-6 teams in the running for Cook.
  • Caplan adds that Cook turned town significantly more guaranteed from the Vikings.
  • NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said that a vote on the Raiders’ possible move to Las Vegas could be “on track” for a possible vote at the NFL owners meetings on March 26-29 in Phoenix. (Paul Gutierrez)
  • Gutierrez reports that the Raiders remain “on course” to apply for relocation at the meetings. However, several reports say that the league could wait until May to vote.
  • In fact, the Raiders are preparing for a media conference in Las Vegas immediately after the meetings should a vote for relocation go their way.
  • Vikings CB Terence Newman said his agent spoke with the Raiders on the same day as the Vikings, but Oakland didn’t make him an offer. (Mark Craig)

Titans

  • A rival GM tells Matt Miller that upgrading at tight end will be a key priority for the Titans: “They’re gonna want to do that New England thing with two tight ends. Watch and see.”
