NFL Notes: Bears, Broncos, Eagles, Saints, Texans, & Vikings

Bears

  • Bears GM Ryan Pace mentioned that they are committed to Jay Cutler as being their quarterback. (Jeff Dickerson)
  • Pace said that he’s excited about giving Cutler another offensive weapon to work with in WR Kevin White.

Broncos

  • Broncos GM John Elway confirmed that OLB Shane Ray will enter Stage 1 of the NFL’s substance-abuse program. (Andrew Mason)
  • Both Elway and HC Gary Kubiak emphasized the importance of a support system for Ray. (Troy Renck)

Eagles

Jay Glazer (per Peter Schrager) reports that Eagles HC Chip Kelly offered the Buccaneers their No. 20 overall pick, their 2016 first-rounder, a quarterback and another veteran player for the No. 1 overall pick.

As for the trade talks with the Titans, Kelly said that the asking price was just too steep.

“I didn’t think it was going to happen, and it didn’t happen,” Kelly said, via Reuben Frank of CSN Philly. “It was a really steep price.”

Saints

Texans

  • Alex Marvez reports that the Texans had no plans to take Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon before the Chargers traded up to get him.

Vikings

Vikings GM Rick Spielman told reporters on Thursday night nothing has changed in regards to RB Adrian Peterson.

“Nothing has changed with Adrian,” Spielman said, via Mark Craig of the Star Tribune. “End of story.

Spielman reportedly snapped when asked if anyone had called him about Peterson.

I’m not getting into who called or not. Adrian Peterson is under contract as a Minnesota Viking. End of story.”
