Packers Interested In Re-Signing CB Davon House

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Packers have let free agent CB Davon House know they want him back next season.

However, Silverstein writes that it could cost the Packers much more than they anticipated now that a few reports have said the price for cornerbacks could top out at $9 million to $10 million per year.

Silverstein takes the Packers interested in retaining House as a “strong sign” that they view him as a priority over veteran CB Tramon Williams.

It’s hard to say what the market will bear for a largely unproven player like House, but Silverstein suggests he could be in line for a deal that would pay him $6-7 million a year.

Of course, the Packers will need to figure out their plans for notable free agents WR Randall Cobb and RT Bryan Bulaga.

They freed up some cap space on Friday by releasing ILB Brad Jones and have the money to spend.

House, 25, has finished up his four-year, $2,340,580 contract with the Packers and will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks.

Last year, House appeared in 13 games and recorded 28 tackles, one interception, a forced fumble, and 10 pass defenses for Green Bay. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 43 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.

We have House listed as the No. 64 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
