Packers RB James Starks Primed for a Breakout Season

In a recent report by Rob Reischel of the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, the discussion centered around the ability of RB James Starks to take the reigns in Green Bay’s backfield.

As Starks showed during Green Bay’s run to the Super Bowl title in 2010 – when he ran for 315 yards in four games – he’s capable of being the bell cow. But can he do it for more than just short stints?

“He looks great. Looks great,” McCarthy said of Starks recently. “He had a breakout playoff run (in 2010). Some guys just hit that injury phase in their careers and just have to work themselves out of it.

The coaching staff appears to be confident in the ability of Starks, and the running back claims that he’s primed for a break-out season in 2012-13. If Starks performs up to his own standards in 2012, he could be in line for a big pay raise after the season. He is currently signed through the 2013 season at a minimum salary of $575,000.
