Panthers Sign C Ryan Wendall & OT Dan France

The Carolina Panthers announced that they’ve signed C Ryan Wendall and OT Dan France to contracts on Tuesday after they placed centers Ryan Kalil (shoulder) and Gino Gradkowski (knee) on injured reserve.

  • Panthers signed OT Tyrus Thompson and OT Jake Rodgers to their practice squad.

It’s worth mentioning that France was signed off of the Browns’ practice squad.

Wendell, 30, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State back in 2009 and played there for seven consecutive seasons. He was in the final year of a two-year, $6.85 million contract when New England placed him on injured reserve just two games into the 2015 season.

The Panthers actually brought Wendell in for a workout last week, so he was clearly on their radar as a potential addition.

In 2014, Wendell appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and was a consistent starter there for a number of years prior to his injury.
