Panthers Sign CB Lou Young To Practice Squad, Cut LB Brian Blechen

The Carolina Panthers announced Thursday that they’ve signed CB Lou Young to their practice squad and waived LB Brian Blechen from the unit.

The Panthers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DT Eric Crume
  2. CB Lou Young
  3. S Travell Dixon
  4. WR Keyarris Garrett
  5. TE Beau Sandland
  6. RB Jalen Simmons
  7. G David Yankey
  8. DE Larry Webster
  9. G Tyler Larsen
  10. WR Damiere Byrd

Young, 25, originally signed on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech back in May of 2014. He lasted just a few months in Denver before he was waived during the final week of the preseason.

After brief stints with the Ravens and Jaguars, Young signed a future/reserve contract with the Panthers last year but has been among their final roster cuts in each of the past two seasons. He signed on to the Panthers’ practice squad a month before being promoted to their active roster soon after.

However, Carolina cut him loose a week later.

This season, Young has been active for one game but has yet to record a statistic.
