Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that the Patriots have discussed the possibility of placing WR Aaron Dobson on season-ending injured reserve this week.

According to Howe, Dobson suffered a serious hamstring injury during last weekend’s loss to the Packers. As of now, the severity Dobson’s injury has not yet been disclosed, but he’s expected to remain out immediately.

Dobson hurt himself while trying to catch a deep pass during the third quarter of Sunday’s game. He has yet to practice with the team this week.

Dobson, 23, is in the second year of his four-year, $3.428 million rookie contract that included $1.173 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $716,670 and $872,505 over the next two years.

Assuming this is it for Dobson in 2014, his season will have ended with him catching three passes for 38 yards and no touchdowns over the course of four games.
