Patriots LB Jerod Mayo Out For The Season

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Patriots LB Jerod Mayo is done for the season with a lower right leg injury.

  • Schefter’s sources mentioned that Mayo’s injury “is bad.

The Patriots indicated that it was a pretty severe injury, so this news isn’t all that surprising. New England brought in five linebackers for workouts on Monday, which indicates that a player could be signed in the coming days.

Last year, Mayo suffered a season-ending torn pectoral in Week 6, so this appears to be terribly disappointing news for him and the Pats.

Mayo, 28, is in the fourth year of his seven-year, $49.85 million contract that includes $25 million guaranteed. His base salary for this season is $3.25 million to go along with another $6.25 million next year.

Mayo will finish the year with 53 tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery over the course of six games.
