Patriots Re-Signing RB LeGarrette Blount To A One-Year, $760K Deal

The New England Patriots have re-signed veteran RB LeGarrette Blount to a new contract on Tuesday, according to Jeff Howe.

  • Albert Breer reports that Blount receives a one-year contract worth $760,000 from the Patriots, which includes a $100,000 signing bonus, a $100,000 roster bonus and $1 million in incentives.

Last week, Blount posted some pictures from the Patriots’ locker room, so there were indications that he was returning to New England.

Blount, 29, originally signed on with the Titans as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon back in 2010. He was unable to make the Titans’ 53-man roster during his rookie season, but was later claimed off of waivers by the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay elected to trade Blount to the Patriots in return for Jeff Demps and a late-round pick after three years.

Blount had a brieft stint with the Steelers before he was cut mid-season and later re-signed by the Patriots.

In 2015, Blount appeared in 12 games and rushed for 703 yards on 165 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with six receptions for 43 yards receiving and seven total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 running back out of 69 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
